Chef/owner Big Steve expertly prepares “a little Louisiana, a little Acadiana, a little Canadiana” at this popular restaurant situated a half block off main street. Pro tip: arrive early if Banff is busy to avoid the line up. Cajun Creole meets a classic Rocky Mountain kitchen with homestyle comfort food. At Tooloulou’s, everything is made in-house for an authentic taste of the south with a subtle touch of the north.

Tooloulou’s features expansive breakfast, lunch and dinner menus with gluten-friendly and kids choices. Want to spice up your meal? Pick from 100 sauces on the Hot Shotz shelf. Tooloulou’s offers merch, catering, and bookings of their 50-seat restaurant for functions.

Atmosphere

The warm brick and wood décor at this small restaurant is jazzed up with mardi gras masks, metal music instrument sculptures and a huge crayfish that hangs from the ceiling. There is a colourful bar with high seats and a small sidewalk patio.

  • Banana Nut Pancakes: two large buttermilk pancakes topped with fresh banana slices, crushed pecans, caramel & whipped cream sprinkled with powdered sugar
  • Makin’ Bacon: two large buttermilk pancakes infused with crispy bacon topped with warm bacon caramel sauce & whipped cream sprinkled with powdered sugar
  • Apple Cinnamon Belgian Waffle: Belgian waffle topped with hot housemade apple preserves & cinnamon sugar
  • Wrap It Up: flour tortilla wrapped around scrambled eggs, sausage, tomatoes, bell peppers and cheddar jack cheeses served with salsa & skillet potatoes

  • Soft Shell Crab Po’ Boy: dusted and deep fried served on grilled baguette with cajun slaw, creole tartar sauce, lettuce & tomatoes
  • Fish & Chips: catfish fillet marinated in hot sauce, battered and fried served with fresh cut fries, cajun slaw & Creole tartar sauce

Dinner

  • Magnolia: goat cheese, pecans & dried cranberries on a bed of mixed greens topped with honey mustard balsamic
  • Blackened Jack: blackened tenderloin tips, grilled bell peppers, black olives, artichoke hearts & mushrooms on home greens with bleu cheese dressing
  • Bayou Tooloulou’s: choose snapper, catfish or mahi mahi seared & topped with Tooloulou’s shrimp & lobster etouffée served with seasonal vegetable
  • Seafood & Sausage Gumbo: a deep rich seafood stew with shrimp, clams, scallops, andouille sausage and the cajun ‘holy trinity’ served over cajun dirty rice
  • Ramon’s Pasta Creole: fusilli pasta with smokey sausage & chicken in a piquant Creole tomato sauce
  • Shrimp & Lobster Etouffée: shrimp and lobster with onion, bell peppers, celery & tomatoes in a spicy cayenne cajun butter sauce over cajun dirty rice
  • Creole Jambalaya: house andouille sausage & chicken in a housemade Creole sauce served over cajun dirty rice
