Chef/owner ‘Big’ Steve expertly prepares “a little Louisiana, a little Acadiana, a little Canadiana” at this popular restaurant situated a half block off main street; tip: arrive early if Banff is busy to avoid the line up. Cajun meets Canada is expressed through fresh ingredients and home-style cooking; expansive breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, plus gluten-friendly and kids menus, please all palettes. Want to spice up your meal? Pick from 100 sauces on the Hot Shotz shelf. Tooloulou’s offers merch, catering, and bookings of their 50-seat restaurant for functions.

Atmosphere

The warm brick and wood décor at this small restaurant is jazzed up with mardi gras masks, metal music instrument sculptures and a huge crayfish that hangs from the ceiling. There is a colourful bar with high seats and a small sidewalk patio.

  • Bayou Tooloulou’s: choose snapper, catfish or mahi mahi seared & topped with Tooloulou’s shrimp & lobster etouffée served with seasonal vegetable
  • Seafood & Sausage Gumbo: a deep rich seafood stew with shrimp, clams, scallops, andouille sausage and the cajun ‘holy trinity’ served over cajun dirty rice
