Yasushi Ueda takes pride operating this Banff hotel district restaurant, known for its food’s quality, quantity and value. All-you-can-eat meals satisfy those with big appetites, and are popular with locals.

Atmosphere

Japanese Restaurant Miki has vaulted ceilings, skylights and a curved bank of massive windows that overlook Banff Avenue and Mount Norquay. Choose a windowside table, or a seat at the sushi bar where classic Japanese fare is prepared as you watch by expert chefs. The bright dining room features accents of Japanese decor and signed celebrity photos of those who have dined here.

  • Hot Appetizers: agedashi tofu (deep fried, in broth); chicken wings; deep fried squid; grilled chicken skewers; beef skewers; gyoza (pan fried pork dumpling)
  • Cold Appetizers: tofu; edamame; Japanese yam strips; kimchi flavoured octopus; smoked salmon; tuna sashimi; squid sashimi; tuna tartare; seared beef
  • Sashimi and Sushi: small, medium and large orders, and a la carte available
  • Noodles: hot or cold udon or soba; served with tempura and two sides
  • Soups and Salads: miso soup (clam and lobster options); green salad; seaweed salad; seafood salad; rice ball with pickled plum; rice ball with grilled salmon
  • Tempura: vegetable, shrimp, seafood, lobster options
  • Rice Bowls: tuna, salmon, or tuna and salmon options; salmon family bowl; shrimp, seafood or lobster tempura bowls; tuna and grated mountain yam bowl; unaj-yu (broiled eel); chirashi-sushi (rice bowl with fish and vegetables)
  • Deep Fried Oysters or Shrimp; Chicken or Salmon Teriyaki
  • Pork Cutlet; 8-oz Alberta Striploin Steak
  • Tempura Course Dinner: miso soup, vinegared seafood, chicken skewer, sushi, assorted tempura, rice
  • Lobster Course Dinner: lobster miso soup, vinegared seafood, cold tofu, appetizer-size sashimi, lobster tempura, rice
  • Sashimi Course Dinner: miso soup, vinegared seafood, deep fried tofu in broth, appetizer-size grilled salmon, assorted sashimi, rice
  • All-You-Can-Eat Special (winter only): sushi, tempura, salmon teriyaki, gyoza and chicken wings with miso and udon (noodle) soup, edamame, tofu, potato croquette, steamed rice, ice cream

Mains$17.50 to $30; all-you-can-eat sushi and tempura $30 (last seating is 9 pm); multi-course dinners $28.50 to $53
